Obama announced yesterday the plans for what what is to happen to GM. There is a possiblity of allowing GM to go into bankruptcy.

I cannot help but wonder what that will mean for the NE Ohio area. We have several plants including the Lordstown assembly plant. It may be the best thing that ever happened to GM. It also will probably be the worst thing to happen here.

I still remember the closing of Youngstown Sheet and Tube in 1977. I was a young adult then and remember not being able to find work. I also remember walking down the street and seeing house after house with for sale signs.

That was 30 some years ago. Youngstown and Warren should have re-invented themselves but did not. It is depressed in this area. Now we are facing it again with GM.

I can only hope that everyone can make consessions to keep going. Or, if not, people remember the people in the Mahoning Valley that need help getting other work.
