I got in with the wrong crowd and allowed them to convince me that I was a terrible guitar player. I was already hurting from my mom's death - I blamed myself for her dying - so I probably was just wasting my time with the Gibson. As as a result, I quit playing my guitar.

Recently, I started playing in a bell choir and LOVE it. The bells seem to just reflect love and kindness. As a result I have started playing my guitar again. Why in the world did I ever allow anyone to convince me that I was wasting my time with my music? This world is so full of pain and even if I was the world's worse player it gave me some sense of joy. Why not play? Why not enjoy that bit of happiness the guitar gave me?

Has it been that long?

I just realized that I have not posted anything in 119 days. It has been a long fall and I have been tired most of the time. I do miss posting things. There just doesn't seem to be much time in the day to get everything done.

I have continued my journalling and have worked through a lot of painful events in my life. I have also come to realize that things that were important to me as a young adult were important. I had attempted to be someone I truly was not. I have started my music again with both the guitar and the handbells and LOVE it.

So this was time that was not lost. I will attempt to post more often.
It is amazing

It is amazing how quickly an asthma attack will come on. It is amazing how quickly she bounced back.

I need to get a routine down for the treatments. Today it was:

find the cat

tear the queen sized bed down

get the cat

give her part 1 of the treatments

put her in the bathroom

put the bed back together

give her part 2 of the treatments

I think once i have the aerokat it is going to be much easier. I do not understand why anyone would want to deny someone else basic health care.

The argument has been made to me that those without health care can use the emergency room. In my past life I have done that. The problem with that logic is:

1. the emergency room should not be your primary health care facility
2. the emergency room is for life-threatening situations

Health care should include on-going care to make the person's life a bit more easy. For example, hypertension can be controlled with regular visits to a doctor. By the time that one gets to the point where they need to be in the ER the damage has already been done.
Investments

I think the government is being a bit optimistic about an upswing in the economy.

Yesterday, I rec'd in the mail a notice that one of my investments is going to have a blackout on all account activity. This doesn't sound good for anyone who invested anything with them. I am lucky. I had used the money to live on while I was unemployed during 2006-2007. I had about $4,000.00 left. When the economy tanked it went down to about a $1,000.00. It's a nice place and there are a group of regulars that meet there just about every saturday.

Today was different. The sun was shining and my best guess is that people went elsewhere on a pretty saturday afternoon. I was alone until I was almost finished.

I washed my Tilley hat on a pretty regular basis. It was on the last spin cycle when a guy comes in. I was folding my other clothes then decided to get the hat out of the wash. It wasn' there. The guy asked me what I was looking for and I told him I washed my hat and it was gone.

He said some un-Christian things to me.

I decided to go back to folding my clothes.

About a minute later he handed me my hat back saying that he took it.

Well, at least he admitted it.

More on journalling

A few days ago, I went back and started reading my early journal entries. This journal was started when I started my spiritual journey about a year and a half ago. Hardly any of it deals with travels or family matters. It is soully focused on my spiritual growth.

What surpised me the most was how young and innocent I sounded. I am sure that 2 years from now I will look back on my entry this morning and think state the same thing over again. It just really surprised me. I am glad I did do it - there is now a record where I can look back and see. There are also moments I may want to explore as I go forward.

It has been too long

It has been almost a month since I posted to my blog. It was a good film - not a great one. I've been watching Trek since 1966 all through the different generations. I spent about 4 years of my life involved with Starfleet - the International Fan Club. I went to the Camp Dover Peace Conference. Yes, I like Star Trek but do not love Star Trek.

And which do I like best? Probably the Original Series. Each of the different Star Trek programs and movies had lasting attributes.

Some commentary:

It is fandom! It should not be anyone's life.

The prime directive reminds me of apartheid way too much. Take a really good look at it and Starfleet comes into an area with all kinds of technology but not allowing the native population to even consider adapting an of it.

It did explore common social concerns of the day.

And, it was a lot of fun.

Ohhh, and one spoiler... just a minor one.... Majel was the voice of the computer. That was so good to see... hear... ok, whatever!

Postings

I just realized I haven't posted anything in ages. I recently purchased a new computer with VISTA already installed and one of those MyBook external drives. Originally, I bought the drive to transfer my photos and audio files from one computer to another.

That worked out pretty well. Almost all of the files have been moved. Laziness is the reason why I haven't finished the task.

I then decided to use the backup utility with VISTA to backup my audio, photos and some other documents. First time or two it worked perfectly. Then I started getting a non-descriptive error about the MyBook having bad sectors on it.

After a while I did a check disk on it and there was on errors.

The backup utility is working fine again.
